The whole process of obtaining your federal firearms license may seem to be out of your reach, but that's not true, it is quite simple to do. The procedure for applying for your F.F.L. license is quirt simple as long as you follow all the instructions on how to fill out the application and make no mistakes.
The first step in obtaining your federal firearms license is to complete the application form, which can very from either A.T.F. form 7, application for gun dealers license, or A.T.F. form 7CR, application for gun collectors ( Curios & Relics). The application type that you need will depend on what you intend to do. If you are looking into opening a gun store or hunting store you will need A.T.F. form 7. If you are a collector of antique firearms then you will need A.T.F. form 7CR.
Now that you have completed your application, you will need to submit it to your local A.T.F. office in your area. At the time you submit your application, you will be required to pay an application fee. It will take a few weeks for your application to be approved or denied.
In order for your license to be approved, you will need to be applying for a single location. You must have notified your local chief of law enforcement in your area that you are applying for your federal firearms license. With out notifying the local chief, your application could be denied.
A problem that you may have to deal with is finding a secure place to conduct business. The A.T.F. has the right to deny a license because you do not have a secure place, and you will also need a place to secure the firearms them selves. You can not just have guns lying around, you must have a plan in place for safe storage before applying. This should be fully functional before applying.
